Chinese translation of Apache license 2.0

Hi All

Would some nice person be kind enough to point me in the direction of a Chinese (simplified) translation of the Apache License 2.0? I will be getting this reviewed by a Chinese lawyer, so would be happy to feed back any comments they may have about translation discrepancies (if any). I realise that there aren’t any official translations, but an unofficial one would be a good starting point.

Thanks in advance,

Andrew

I encourage you to take this to the legal list, but the answer to this
question has always been NO in the past. A translation of a legal document
is no longer the same document because nuance is lost and/or introduced in
the process of translation. At least that is how it has been explained each
time this is asked.

I suggest to find some Chinese-US lawyer to help for review if we finnaly with go with translation. We need people understand leagal stuff both side.
And if will not go with translation, the idea is to have some explain and example in Chinese, say what’s kind of situation is ok and what’s not, it will help a lot for people to understand.

Anyway, I am happy to help, please let me know if there’s anything I could do for you.

Thanks.

Andrew,

I presume you know that translating a license will open up a bit of a can
of worms. In particular, it makes the license harder to work with in the
original jurisdiction and working out kinks in a new jurisdiction can be
really a lot of work.

Be prepared to have not just one Chinese lawyer review it, but several. And
include somebody who is current on the state of copyright law in your
intended jurisdiction.

Hi Andrew,  There is a Chinese article introducing, not translating, the Apache Software License 2.0 in the open source governance document section on our community website:  http://www.kaiyuanshe.cn/article/5.mhtml.
This article, among other OSS licenses introduction articles on our website which we worked with OSS-Watch, may give your lawyer a place to start with.

Tommaso,

Re: datasets. You probably know these:

   - Chinese - English pair was newly added to WMT2017 [1]
   - More from Chinese WMT, see FTP details at the bottom of the page [2].
   - the Open parallel corpus also has some resources [3]

yes, I am looking into some corpora for building language packs for En ->
Chinese and Chinese -> En so that could be a nice benchmark once I manage
to do that.
If anyone else is willing to join let me know.
