[jira] [Commented] (OAK-3240) Allow to copy binaries by reference in the RepositorySidegrade

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OAK-3240?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14700851#comment-14700851 ]

Julian Sedding commented on OAK-3240:
-------------------------------------

Isn't this just a matter of how you set up your {{NodeStore}} instances? If they share the same {{BlobStore}} instance they can copy by reference, otherwise by value?

I would like us to factor out creation of the {{NodeStore}} by URI (e.g. path, mongo-uri, rdb-uri) for easy re-use. This would allow to use a consistent URI-like configuration format, which could be leveraged by all command-line tools. WDYT?

> The {{RepositorySidegrade#copyBinariesByReference}} property is not used anywhere. It should allow to skip copying binary contents and use the existing blob store in the new node store.
