I was going to suggest adding a unit test, but then I realized that there's really nothing meaningful to test. That did prompt me to consider looking through the rest of HdfsUpdateLog and HdfsTransactionLog for additional duplication, and there's definitely room for additional improvement, but I think this patch is fine as is. The rest of the work can be looked at in a follow on JIRA.
