[STATUS] still feature freeze, getting close

The feature freeze and delayed release is causing us trouble.

I feel that we are getting close to a release. Sure, there are
still some major known issues. However, remember that we are
not yet at 1.0 so people must expect issues.

We need to summarise our outstanding 0.6 roadmap issues and
see if we can defer any.
