Error loading UMLS fast processor

Hi everyone,

I am a new user to cTAKES, and just downloaded cTAKES 4.0 based on
installation guide.

I also downloaded Java 9.0.4 SE Runtime Environment (I have limited
computer science background).

*Problem: *I am unable to load the AE
"AggregatePlainTextUMLSFASTProcessor", but "the
AggregatePlainTextProcessor" loaded fine.

*Error log:* SEVERE: Initialization of annotator class
"org.apache.ctakes.dictionary.lookup2.ae.DefaultJCasTermAnnotator" failed.

... Caused by "java.base/jdk.internal.loader.ClassLoaders$AppClassLoader
cannot be cast to java.base/java.net.URLClassLoader"

I have attached the log file. If anyone has experienced similar error,
please let me know?

Thanks!

Best Regards,
Queenie

Thank you for your tips, everyone.

I am in the process of installing the developer kit now.

I'm very new to cTAKES and Java as well. But I think you may need to use the Java development kit (JDK) and not just the runtime (JRE).

Barbara

Hi Gandhi,

I am using Java 9.0.1 successfully. Perhaps there is a different reason for Queenie’s error?

Cheers,
Gundolf.

This looks like Java 9 compatibility issue.

Request you to test with Java 8.
