Is Syncope an alternative to Oracle OIM?

If that's the idea (and I think this could be a great idea), I'd like to
know more about syncope architecture

Hi Leonardo,
the idea was (and still is) to build a full-fledged Identity Manager,
e.g. a provisioning engine with main target of keeping identity data
synchronized among different resources (LDAP, Active Directory, DBMS,
web services, ....).

So yes, Apache Syncope is an Open Source alternative for Oracle OIM and
similar vendor products.

A high-level introduction to Syncope can be found at

http://syncope.apache.org/architecture.html

and

http://syncope.apache.org/features.html

and you can get your hands dirt by taking a look at

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/SYNCOPE/Getting+started

We have recently started, however, an effort to produce better
documentation, whose (draft) results are available at

http://ilgrosso.github.io/syncope2/getting-started.html

Should you need more details and / or guidance, please ask.
Regards.
