   I'm having a similar issue. If I have...
   ` function onPause() {
                       navigator.splashscreen.show();`
   
   the same thing happens the splashscreen flashes up for a second and is then hidden. 
   so when tabbing between apps, the page with content is shown not the splashscreen.
