[jira] Created: (ETCH-22) Change Java (other?) package names to org.apache.etch

Change Java (other?) package names to org.apache.etch
-----------------------------------------------------

                 Key: ETCH-22
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ETCH-22
             Project: Etch
          Issue Type: Task
            Reporter: Niclas Hedhman

There is a policy that all ASF projects should lie in the package name "org.apache.<projectname>", unless extreme compatibility reasons prevents this (and Etch doesn't fall within that AFAICT).

scott comer commented on ETCH-22:
---------------------------------

well, 1) this probably applies somehow to the c# space as well.

2) this should be done such that all an existing user need do is recompile their etch files, possibly fiddle a name or two in imports otherwise.

3) wire compatibility should be ensured. which is to say, existing services using 1.0, 1.0.1, or 1.0.2 (pre-name change) should interoperate on the wire with 1.1 (post-name change).
