Service Mode Support under 9x
Summary: Service Mode Support under 9x
Product: Apache httpd-2.0
Version: 2.0-HEAD
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Windows 9x
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: Other
Component: Core
AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
ReportedBy: JCNilson@mail.com
I have noticed both through use of the Apache2 server under 9x and the
documentation that there are several functions missing or inoperable from this
angle under Windows 9x, including graceful process termination under shutdown
conditions and inoperability with the service monitor application. I also note
that the current version of WinVNC4, which is also open sourced, has appropriate
code to handle these behaviors under this platform. That code might be a good
starting point if work is ever to be finished incorporating Apache properly into
the 9x OS. I know it would be invaluable to me to be able to terminate the
process gracefully on shutdown as easily as VNC does. Please consider taking a
look at this compatibility issue for a future version. Thanks!
