Reregistration of node types (via command line utility)

Hi all,
* Is anyone actively using the type reregistration facility - any gotchas
with this?
* Is there any plans to provide this facility via the command line contrib
project?

Its becoming a bigger and bigger pain for us to migrate between CND files
due to type changes.
