[jira] [Commented] (HTTPCORE-665) add http status code 509 Bandwidth Limit Exceeded (Unofficial code)

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HTTPCORE-665?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17279419#comment-17279419 ]

Julian Reschke commented on HTTPCORE-665:
-----------------------------------------

I would say that a decision needs to be made whether unregistered codes should be included. Doing so might open a can of worms.

If the code is indeed widely used, it really ought to be registered in the IANA status code registry.

Question: *why* does it need to be included here?

> Would be nice to have the HTTP code 509. This status code, while used by many servers, is not specified in any RFCs.

> Currently, the HTTP Status code list doesn't include this codes.
