[jira] Commented: (TAP5-720) Extending componts is not possible

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TAP5-720?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12712979#action_12712979 ]

Thiago H. de Paula Figueiredo commented on TAP5-720:
----------------------------------------------------

The answer is compatibility between versions (backward and forward compatibility). Tapestry was (and still is) criticized for breaking compatibility between major versions (T5 is not compatible with T4, T4 not compatible with T3, etc) and Howard, the framework creator, has stated that there will be no Tapestry 6.

And please post in the mailing list and check other issues before creating JIRAs. I created a similar one in the past (https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TAP5-173).

> Please change these the protected ( as you would do with any extendable object)!
> Or is the a reason (which I can not imagine ) for making them "private"?
