When you load the log4j.properties from the classpath, log4j leaks an InputStream.

If you load the properties from a file, it leaks a FileInputStream if there is a
problem while reading the properties.

Sorry about that; after I committed the fix to our inhouse CVS, Eclipse didn't
want to create a patch anymore ;-)

Patch to always close the inputstreams

I've found this bug while trying to redeploy a webapp. Sometimes, the file
log4j.properites in the classes directory was locked.
