converting xml to pdf

Hello,
I have a problem in converting xml to pdf.I have a xml file 
i want to convert that to pdf and open in a browser.My 
application is web enabled.Can any body help me in this.The 
example given in embedded directory is also not working for 
me. I have few doubts 
1. should we have to write an xsl to convert to .fo file
2. when passing an .fo file to the servlet should we also 
parse xml file?
3. the pdf will open but it will close without displaying 
anything.
please help me in this matter.
