start/stop-script from source dist

Is there a start/stop-script in the source distribution thats suitable 
to run from /etc/init.d on linux?

Or is there a way to make one automatically?

Check for RPM/deb distributions. This one is useful.
http://www.raibledesigns.com/tomcat/boot-howto.html . I hadnt tried it yet.
