SSO with Google Apps
Hi,
I do not see much in the way of answers to this question. If this has
already been answered, sorry ahead of time.
I am looking to implement ApacheDS in my company and wanted to make sure
that we can use SSO with Google Apps. I see that Google Apps uses SAML. I do
not see anywhere on the ApacheDS website about the implementation of SAML.
Is there support for SAML? If no, is there another way to use SSO with
Google?
Thank you,
Shane

LDAP seems simple, until you jump into the soup. Well, more like mud
than soup...

Emmanuel,
Good advice. I grabbed the LDAP book from O'reilly last night and got
through 3 chapters. Good stuff.

May be you should spend a couple of hour reading some book on LDAP.
I know that it's a pretty arid subject, but if you get some insomnia, or
when in the smallest room of your apartment...
Really it could save you your countless hours !

You may have a look at the OpenSAML project, too.

Hi,
I have found the Eclipse plugin to be pretty cool, but I am no well versed
in LDAP, so the additional help from Softerra has been nice, just to get an
understanding of what I should be doing.
I will be using the simplesamlphp IdP for sure. After I get our servers
authenticating against ApacheDS.
Thanks again,
Shane

In my opinion Apache Directory Studio is the better choice to manage
an LDAP server. Is just top level...! the alternatives are really poor
(e.g. phpldapadmin)..
ps for SAML and google apps integration i suggest you simplesamlphp IdP
google for it and google integration or if you want an eclipse project
checkout Higgins.

Thank you Stefan. Much appreciated.
Would you answer another question? What do people usually use as a front end
tool to administrate users?
I am currently using Studio to administrate ApacheDS.
Thanks,
Shane

No, ApacheDS doesn't provide an SAML identity provider (yet). You can
still store your users in ApacheDS and use a third-party SAML product
on top of it, e.g. Shibboleth [1].
