Adding Partition

Hello,

I decided to check out everything and set up the environment again.

I need partitions, and i have something according to set with these steps:

Now i saw a web page like this:

Are the mentioned "partition" concepts same?

Can i gain partitions if i use second user interfaced way, like the the
partitions i gained much before with first method?
