Had a question

hi all,
how long do you guys think it would it take for SOAP to fully integrat with
(say) ebXML ...
So that people accept SOAP as an industry standard rather than an
experimental ..protocol...
Any suggestions ...

Cheers,
Naggi

Naggi,

Last summer the SOAP and ebXML communities took the steps necessary to
establish a formal relationship by commissioning a liaison to work with the
W3C XML Protocol Activity.
Throughout the fall of 2000 and January of 2001 there were numerous meetings
and discussions between SOAP and ebXML representatives discussing ways in
which the two groups could cooperate.

In February, 2001, representatives from SOAP and ebXML met in Vancouver to
discuss the specific technical details that would lead to a fully converged
SOAP/ebXML solution. The end result was the integration of SOAP into ebXML's
Message Service, making it the first E-Commerce "web service" to provide
reliable, secure delivery of XML, EDI and other business data, with the
support of an international organization.

>From my standpoint, the integration you speak of is well underway.

Recently the RosettaNet organization announced plans to use ebXML's Message
Service, ref:

se=com.webridge.entity.Entity[OID[1EC4B0E09B39D511BD97009027E33DD8]]

NOTE: make sure your mail reader includes the ]] at the end of the above URL
or you will not see the announcement by RosettaNet to use ebXML's Message
Service.
