James 2.3 doesn't start up all the way.

I’m running fedora 5, I downloaded the new JAMES binary, copied my old
config.xml, set my /var/mail as ln –s

When I try launching the new version, there are no errors, but the
phoenix.log is stuck on the “veryifying Blocks” or something like that.
Here’s phoenix.log: (/var/logs has empty files)

Any idea what’s wrong? I can only think that the new config.xml is
incompatible with the old one for some reason… Is that true?

If so any idea how to easily convert without re-writing everything?

Thanks!

RE: James 2.3 doesn't start up all the way.

Posted by Ivan Jouikov <iv...@ablogic.net>.
Why didn't anybody mention that thing before? Turned out one of the blocks
I had in the old config.xml wouldn't work with the new one (and after
playing around with it I decided it was easier to re-write the config than
to try and make the old one work)... What happened to backwards
compatibility eh?

Now it starts up fine (and seems to work faster than the old one!).

However, when starting up, it takes forever on the following line:

INFO 2006-12-05 18:41:24.383 [Phoenix.] (): Verify that if target is null
then actions is null.

Did you check the phoenix.console file in the $JAMESDIR/tmp? That might
contain some more usefull information.

Yes - the new config.xml and the other config files are incompatible.

> If so any idea how to easily convert without re-writing everything?

The differences are not huge but in my experience starting from scratch
is the easiest way.

Hope this helps
