[jira] [Commented] (BEAM-8595) Add "How to Build the Sources" section to README.md and Contribute pages

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BEAM-8595?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16970139#comment-16970139 ]

Jacek Laskowski commented on BEAM-8595:
---------------------------------------

It could be as simple as "And check is a basic command which depends on build, so if you can run tests, it means that the project is built as well." for people who are new to gradle (like myself). I simply didn't want to spend time on testing the sources, but building them as quickly as possible.

> Add "How to Build the Sources" section to README.md and Contribute pages
> ------------------------------------------------------------------------
>
> Key: BEAM-8595
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BEAM-8595
> Project: Beam
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: website
> Affects Versions: 2.16.0
> Reporter: Jacek Laskowski
> Priority: Trivial
>
> There's no step-by-step doc about how to pull the sources and build beam. There should be a page that should be part of [https://beam.apache.org/contribute/]
> It should also be clearly described in README.md which is the initial doc at github.
