handling BacicAuth on the server

I am using basic auth in a rest service. I am trying to get the
username and password from the header. I know it's constructed as
"username:password"  then encoded Base64.
I can decode it and extract the data manually, it's not hard. If
there's already an existing way to retrieve the credentials in a
different way, please let me know.
