[jira] [Resolved] (XERCESJ-1504) Add localized error messages to Xerces

Michael Glavassevich resolved XERCESJ-1504.
-------------------------------------------

    Resolution: Won't Fix

Yes, that would be nice except that the files that you are pointing to would be Oracle's intellectual property which they have not donated to Apache and probably never will. Software that they make available is under different license terms which may be (and have been) incompatible with Apache's licensing policy [1]. We cannot pull those files into Xerces and don't have the language skills necessary (e.g. I only speak English fluently) to produce original works or maintain them.

> Localized error messages (especially for validation) would be very useful for Xerces in non-English environments. XML editors often display Xerces error messages to end users, and may not always assume a specific version of Xerces is used to provide error messages localization.
> JAXP has started including localized error messages :
> These files are adapted to an old version of Xerces, and do not include all the recent messages. But maybe they could be used to start this project ?
