Provide a type-safe, engine controlled session variable:

CREATE [ OR REPLACE } TEMPORARY VARIABLE [ IF NOT EXISTS ]var_name  [ type ][ DEFAULT expresion ]

SET {  variable = expression | ( variable [, ...] ) = ( subquery | expression [, ...] )

DROP VARIABLE  [ IF EXISTS ]variable_name
