[lang] [patch] Optimizations for Strings methods

I worked on these optimizations basically replacing the string concats
with StringBuffers ensuring the correct capacity in the constructor. I
have attached the patch.
Btw, as I am very new to open source, if I am making some faux pas here
please let me know so I can stop embarrassing myself :)

Nope, looks fine to me. I'll add applying the patch to the list of todo's.
I won't be finding much time to do things until Wed night, so don't panic
if it hasn't gone in by then. Tight deadlines for two jobs coinciding :(
