[jira] [Commented] (CURATOR-99) Java 8 refactoring

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CURATOR-99?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14483475#comment-14483475 ]

Mike Drob commented on CURATOR-99:
----------------------------------

Java 6 has been EOL for over two years. Java 7 hits EOL at the end of the month. I think that despite ZK sitting on Java 6, we should strongly consider Java 8 for the Curator 3.0 release line.

ZK is stable enough that I can imagine them still running on top of JDK 6 in another 5 or 10 years.

Further, our release cadence in not so fast that maintaining concurrent 2.x and 3.x lines will be prohibitive.
