------------------------------------

Can you remind me what trademarks still need to be resolved?

It looks to me like US trademark Serial No: 75321943 is still live and will remain so until 2019.

The ASF board's preference is to transfer the marks, to reflect the movement of managing use of the name to Apache. However, it will be sufficient to remove this as a blocking issue if an official at Yahoo! would simply license use of the marks to the ASF with an intent to transfer any remaining live marks after graduation from Incubator.

We just need permission to do the release from anyone at Yahoo! with signature authority. Trademark, by its very nature, is an absolute monopoly on use of the name in that category.

For an incubator release, this permission can be as simple as an email message to the dev list saying that Yahoo! wants the ASF to distribute the software as Apache Traffic Server.

The graduation requirement is that Yahoo! transfer the authority to make that decision to the ASF.

Miles has the list of TMs that needs to be transferred, I'll defer to him.

Roy: Do you think this is a blocker for preparing a first "developer" release? The hope is that we could prepare such a release (2.0.0-alpha) this week, but I'm not sure our legal will complete the licensing that soon.

Fwiw, Miles is working on both fronts, getting a letter of assurance (or a license) that we're granting ASF the rights to Traffic Server. He's also working on the complete transferal of the TMs, but that is probably an even longer process.
