[jira] [Commented] (INFRA-11311) Redirect https://whimsy.apache.org/ to whimsy-vm2

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-11311?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15163830#comment-15163830 ]

Geoffrey Corey commented on INFRA-11311:
----------------------------------------

Alright, now that I've had time to catch up on some things:

The "official" proxy node for whimsy-vm2 is currently: proxy4-us-west. This is currently handling whimsy-test.a.o.

The whimsy vhost definitions setup for whimsy.a.o on proxy{1,2,3}-us-west.a.o are because I copied them out of a vhost definition on an older svn node manifest. This should (and will) be removed.

Once there is confirmation as to the timeframe for the switch over, I will update nyx-ssl's vhost definition for whimys.a.o to handle whimsy-old.a.o (because SSL, old.whimsy.a.o will not work without a warning) and then update DNS to point whimsy.a.o to use whimsy-vm2 via proxy4-us-west.

> Provide a new name (whimsy-old? old.whimsy?) by which the original whimsy-vm can be accessed via ssh proxy. Once that is in place, redirect whimsy.apache.org to whimsy-vm2, leaving whimsy-test in place for now.
> I looked at the definition in infrastructure-puppet, but saw more entries in there than I could explain. I tried discussing this on the infra@ mailing list on Saturday, and then on hipchat on Sunday
