[ANNOUNCEMENT] Contributor Workshop at Yahoo!
Yahoo is organizing Contributor's Workshops on the day after the
Hadoop Summit (10 June 2010) for both Hadoop Core (HDFS & MapReduce)
and Pig. We would be happy to provide space for any of the other
Hadoop sub-projects as well! If you are interested in organizing such
a workshop for one of the Hadoop sub-projects, please email us at hadoopcontributorrsvp@yahoo-inc.com
with "WORKSHOP ORGANIZER (project)" in the subject line.

I am interested in working with you on that. Hopefully this will drive
adoption of Hive and Hive API (UDFs, SerDe) a lot.

There was a discussion on IRC after the e-mail was sent by Owen.
JD unofficially nominated me and I e-mailed Owen/Yahoo to say we'd like to do an HBase workshop.
I got a confirmation that they received my e-mail but nothing further yet.

First we need figure who's going to do the hbase representing this
year and make sure we get a paper in. Write me if interested so we
can coordinate. If past years are anything to go by, there'll be good
attendance and lots of paper submissions so we should get something in
sooner rather than later.
Second, do you all want to spend a day at Y! campus doing hbasing?
Looks like we're doing one at HUG10 -- end of April -- but maybe we
should do one as part of hadoop summit too or instead (we could do it
elsewhere too, up in the city if that were the preference).

opportunity for us to meet and discuss ZooKeeper development. We could
focus on ZK internals, future development, Q&A with team members.
What do you think? I'd be willing to coordinate our session unless
someone else would like to do so. I'm thinking we don't need 5 hrs, how
about 2 hours? (it's june 30th)
