Question regarding formatting of XML

I have some questions regarding formatting of XML:

If I understand the current situation correctly,
Xerces does not support pretty XML formatting (i.e.
human readable, line feeds, indentation etc.) out of
the box. Is this correct?

Is there any open source solution out there that can
be used in conjunction with Xerces?

Will such a feature be added to Xerces in the future?

What would be the simplest do-it-yourself approach?
