Tomcat and Linux

I installed the Tomcat 3.2 b8 on a RedHat 7.0 but when I try to acces a servlet I get this message:

[jk_connect.c (143)]: jk_open_socket, connect() failed errno = 111
[jk_ajp12_worker.c (152)]: In jk_endpoint_t::service, Error sd = -1

and tomcat generating an eroor like : Handler socket error

What i'll be the problem ?
gabi

Better still, slam a cache (squid, for example) on port 80, and
let it forward requests to tomcat living on a (restricted to
localhost) port 8080.

Just a thought.

I've had similar problems (way back) and solved them by re-compiling
mod_jk (or mod_jserv). This has been well covered in the archives of this
list, so a search of www.google.com will find you the various archives.

In the meantime, you could consider running tomcat on port 80 (see
conf/server.xml) or just using www.yourserver.com:8080 to access tomcat
directly. IMHO, tomcat does a fine job of web serving on its own, so
unless you need Apache specific stuff (i.e. mod_perl), you might be able
to keep it simple...
