How group works?

Hi,

I'm working with jetspeed. So I use the turbine
database. But, I can't understand how works the group
(table TURBINE_GROUP with link on
TURBINE_USER_GROUP_ROLE).
Could you help me or give me a link, a tutorial...
Thank you very much

Matthieu

Hi Jeff,

Your explications helped me but I already knew them.
In fact, my problem is that on jetspeed I'm not able
to use the group as you told me. It doesn't work at
all...

Hi,

This page might be able to help you understand what's going on:

http://jakarta.apache.org/turbine/turbine-2.2.0/turbine-schema.html

Basically, a User represents a logged-in or anonymous user of your Turbine
Application.

Users are assigned Roles within a Group. A Role could something like
ContentAdministrator or UserAdministrator. The Group could be something
like Administrators, OrdinaryUsers, SuperUsers. Most of this modeling is up
to you, as the developer to decide what works best with your application.

Roles are collections of Permissions. Permissions could be things like
AddUser, DeleteUser, AddContent, EditContent, ApproveContent. Permissions
also depend on how your application works.

Hope this helps,
Jeff Linwood
