Wicket tester missing feature: auto components

I'm trying to convert the wicket examples to use the wicket tester for the
unit tests, and I discovered one glaring hole in our wicket tester:
auto components

Since the autocomponents are carefully removed from the component hierarchy,
you can't click them nor assert their existence.

Is this something that should be supported? Or is this a red herring?
