$Id lines

OK, there's been lots of talk about the $Id lines but no decision, so votes
please:

Should $Id$ lines be deleted?

IMO, they serve no useful purpose, and they make commits harder to read.
History might be useful, but bulky, so I'll leave that to one side, for now.
