ifame disconnect when resizing
Hi Guys,
We’re currently working on a project with the following architecture:
1.
An external website handles authentication and embeds the Guacamole
client within an iframe to deliver RDP applications hosted on Windows
Server VMs in the cloud.
2.
A single Guacamole web client is connected to a shared SQL database.
3.
Multiple guacd servers are deployed behind a load balancer, with clients
connecting through the load balancer’s proxy IP.
We are not focused on session sharing, and overall, the setup functions as
expected. However, we’ve encountered an issue where resizing the iframe
causes a WebSocket disconnection, which in turn results in the RDP session
being dropped. This behavior is consistently observed in the browser
console logs.

Any thoughts on how to get around this issue ?

Hi
Thanks for the info. Yes I agree writing our own client would be the way to
go. I just started doing it using the reference doc and sample code.
Regards
Gihan

Hi
I don't think iframes are suitable for anything beyond simple static pages - think pre Flash ie from a time when the web was a gentler place. XSS and all the rest mean that iframes are largely useless for anything beyond a quick scrape of static content. Yes they can be abused to do way more than they should but I suggest you don't.
Guacamole has an API and this: https://guacamole.apache.org/doc/gug/writing-you-own-guacamole-app.html
I'm old enough to remember the HTML blink tag and I think iframes are at least as old if not older. To be honest, I still have my original Commodore 64 off of the 1980s. I first looked at that fancy new menuing thing at CERN using telnet, through a VAX and a X.25 PAD. I thought it looked like Ceefax, WAIS and Gopher had been combined and gone a bit odd - shows what I know!
If I can live in the 2020s then so can you 8)
Cheers
