[Bug 120449] New: Dictionaries take 85MB of disk space after first
AOO run (possibly per user)
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=120449
Priority: P3
Bug ID: 120449
CC: ooo-issues@incubator.apache.org
Assignee: issues@lingucomponent.openoffice.org
Summary: Dictionaries take 85MB of disk space after first AOO
run (possibly per user)
Severity: normal
Issue Type: DEFECT
Classification: Code
OS: All
Reporter: registration000@web.de
Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: AOO 3.4.0
Component: other
Product: lingucomponent
I have installed AOO 3.4.0. Supposedly over OOo 3.x
As I started the office for the very first after the installation ca. 85MB of
free space was away.
There are sv1jvdb.tmp_, sv1jw53.tmp_, sv1jxsk.tmp_ and sv1k01p.tmp_ folders
under
"C:\Documents and Settings\a\Application
Data\OpenOffice.org\3\user\extensions\tmp\extensions\". They contain
dict-en-au-2008-12-15.oxt, dict-en-nz-2008-12-03.oxt, dict-en.oxt and
en_CA_2_0_0.oxt folders, each >20MB in size.
Each of this folders contains a (sometimes renamed) copy of th_en_US_v2.dat
(ca. 18MB) (th_en_CA_v2.dat have some differences with other three).
In Extension Manager I see "American English Spell Checking 1.0" which can be
removed, but no options to remove Australian, New Zealand or Canadian English.
It would be nice to
- control for which "Englishs" spell checking is installed
- have only one th_en_US_v2.dat file
- have the set of base spell checker files once for all users and only the
user dictionary files per user.

--- Comment #1 from Rob Weir <ro...@apache.org> ---
Good concern to raise. It is even more urgent when working with roaming
profiles.
