------- Additional Comments From andreas@apache.org  2005-02-28 09:46 -------
This is due to the configuration of the BypassableAccessController in
cocoon-xconf.xsl:

  <component logger="lenya.ac.accesscontroller.bypassable"
      class="org.apache.lenya.ac.impl.BypassableAccessController"
      role="org.apache.lenya.ac.AccessController/bypassable">

<public>.*switch-user|.*logout|.*[.]css|.*[.]jpg|.*[.]gif|.*[.]png|.*[.]rng|.*[.]xsl</public>
  </component>

URLs of the form ".*logout" are not handled by the access controller, therefore
no roles array is attached to the session. Since we have the login/logout
usecases, IMO we can safely remove this pattern.
