newbie and authorisation

Hi

I'm trying to setup JMeter to test an app running on Tomcat in development
and WebLogic for UAT
Using 1.7 (can't get 1.8 to run)

I've tried setting up and auth manager but I still get 
java.io.FileNotFoundException: http://localhost:8080/eJif/index.jsp
around the pages that require authentication

can someone give me some pointers here ?
