The Apache FreeMarker community has voted on and approved a proposal
to release Apache FreeMarker 2.3.25-incubating.

Before proceed, you should know that FreeMarker 2.3.x, for a long
time, always releases a normal and a "gae" variant on the same time,
which are technically two independent source trees (Git branches). The
"gae" variant contains a few small modification in the Java source
code to be Google App Engine compliant, and has freemarker-gae as the
Maven artifact name. Otherwise the normal and the "gae" branches are
identical. Hence, they are voted on together.
The commits to be voted upon are:

I'm not arguing that point. The bottom of
http://incubator.apache.org/projects/freemarker.html shows a project
specific section (which every podling has). I think there should be
something listed about the domain name cut over.

The consensus was that the canonical domain remains the traditional
freemarker.org until graduation, and after that the canonical domain
will be under apache.org, and freemarker.org will redirect to there.
Also note that freemarker.org is on the Apache infrastructure. It's
physically the same as freemarker.incubator.apache.org.

specific goal of implementing both an apache.org presence and freemarker.org
presence, in alignment with prior trademark comments. At least in my
opinion that should be a pre-requisite for graduation.
I'll take a closer look at the release tonight and provide a vote.

You mean the OpenOffice files that were produced in this project. Then
it sounds like as if we should have two different LICENSE-s, one for
the source release (as only that contains those file) and one for the
binary release (and embedded into the jar).

Yes, this and the NOTICE thing was queued earlier but has missed this
release cycle... sorry for that.

Fix committed for the next release (it just doesn't print copyright
info and URL anymore... nobody calls that class anyway).

It's because freemarker.org is kept as the canonical domain of the
project during incubation (but not after graduation). It was accepted
after some debate.

- files name contain incubating
- signatures and hashes correct
- DISCLAIMER exists
- NOTICE and LICENSE ok, although NOTICE contains text that should be in LICENSE. It’s also not clear to me if the text in NOTICE is referring to Apache FreeMarker or some previous version of FreeMarker.
- all ASF licensed source file have Apache headers
- no unexpected binary files
- can compile from source
May be a good idea to:
- To sign the release wth an apache.org email address. This was mentioned last release I’m not sure that something signed by a freemail.hu address gives me any confidence.
- Fix the copyright year in [1] (and at the same time replace the reference to http://freemarker.org/ with an Apache URL.)
Just out of interest why does the README start with this? i.e. direct the user to an non Apache URL for downloads/reporting bugs?
