Hi Israel,
I took the src you attached to the JIRA and migrated it to Solr 4.2.1. It compiles now, and works as expected.
I haven't tried it with Solr 4.3, but presumably it will work fine with that too.
I'm attaching a tar ball (SOLR-1913-src.tar.gz) with the modified source.
Ankur, Christopher, please feel free to try this out and give your feedback.
