[jira] [Commented] (INFRA-8870) ASF mailing list request form - Reply-To text is unclear

Tony Stevenson commented on INFRA-8870:
---------------------------------------

The default behaviour is that replies go to the sender, Sebb. If it is desirable to change this, then one can ask for it post-creation as well as at creation time.

> The web form for creating a mailing list says:
> Replies
> ----------
> |_| Set Reply-To list header?
> If checked, replies will go to the same list. Except for lists named commits, which will direct replies to the corresponding dev list.
> ------------------
> It was not clear to me under what circumstances the box should be unchecked. As I did not want the replies to go to the same list (for notifications@commons) I unchecked it, and added information in the Notes box. On further reflection it was probably wrong to deselect it.
> It would be helpful to explain when the box should be unchecked.
> For lists other than "commits", how does one specify a different destination for replies? For example, "issues" replies are better sent to "dev".
