precompiled stylesheets

Regarding the open bug that you list at
http://xml.apache.org/xalan/readme.html#bugs  "a 'not serializable exception'
occurs when you attempt to run a precompiled stylesheet..."

I get this error when trying to compile the stylesheet. Is it the same
bug?  

You say that this occurs for "a precompiled stylesheet that expects
parameter values to be passed in".  What, exactly, does this mean?
Does this mean that if the stylesheet contains any templates that take
parameters the error will occur?

Are there any workarounds?
