[jira] [Commented] (FLINK-9791) Outdated savepoint compatibility
table

David Anderson commented on FLINK-9791:
---------------------------------------
A table that has to be updated with each release is problematic, but we could add an item to the release checklist to prompt us to do it. And we shouldn't just drop the table, as this is an important topic that should be addressed in the documentation.
Moreover, I suspect in practice that the policy may over time become "backward compatible for at least two versions", rather than exactly two versions. So a simple statement of the policy may not be enough to convey all useful information.
Since the table is an easy to understand representation of the information, I vote for keeping it and updating it.

> Savepoint compatibility table is outdated, does no cover 1.4.x nor 1.5.x. We should either update it or remove it, as I think we agreed to support only two versions backward compatibility and such table is unnecessary.

> You can check the table in version 1.5.x here: https://ci.apache.org/projects/flink/flink-docs-release-1.5/ops/upgrading.html#compatibility-table
