jdk 1.1.8 and tomcat - found a workaround!

my problem was socket exceptions and io exceptions
when trying to run tomcat 3.1 on a redhat linux box
with jdk 1.1.8.  a few of you wrote in about this
problem.

i downloaded jdk117_v3 and restarted tomcat.  that got
rid of the socket exceptions but not the io
exceptions.  i rebuilt the tomcat and ant source code
with jdk117_v3 and now my problems (at least
temporary) have disappeared.
