access a character column from a CMP EJB

hi,

I have an enterprise application [.ear]

the cmp-mapping is as follows



<ejb-name>BeanA</ejb-name>
    <table-name>A</table-name>
    <cmp-field-mapping>
        <cmp-field-name>field1</cmp-field-name>
        <table-column>a1</table-column>
    </cmp-field-mapping>


field1 is boolean and a1 is character

can i have this configuration

i added the follwing snippet

to the cmp-field-mapping


<sql-type>CHAR</sql-type>
       
<type-converter>org.tranql.sql.typeconverter.SerializableConverter</type-converter>



i am getting an exception 

Error: Unable to distribute Myapp.ear: Could not
deploy module Myapp.jar
    caused by SQL type 1 is not defined


Can anybody provide a solution for this
