I am using jdk 1.6. I was able to get around it by exporting these packages from a system fragment bundle (or adding them to the osgi.bootdelegation property in the etc/custom.properties files).
I will look at the development mailing list for mysql.
My next hurdle is testing the Helloworld and ping pong examples. Any suggestions?

I downloaded servicemix-jbi-4.4.1.zip. When I try to install ode, I still get the javax.xml.bind * errors, so, I am using the system fragment to export these packages. I am back on the springframework.beans.xml.factory;verison=2.5.0 constraint failure.
Also, I want to use mysql as the database. you mention I will need additional steps - what are these steps? But first, I am having trouble with the basic installation of ode. Greatly appreciate any help with resolving these installation issues.

I guess the siplest way is to download servicemix jbi assembly http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi?path=servicemix/servicemix-4/4.4.1/apache-servicemix-jbi-4.4.1.zip (tar.gz) =)
But you will need some addtional steps to use external database for ODE due to errors in transaction management...

I was able to get around the springframework.beans.xml.factory constraint by installing the camle-jms features.
Now I am trying to install the examples-ode-helloworld features. I get a missing contraint for the package org.apache.servicemix.common.osgi; version="0.0.0". I do the the org.apache.felix.gogo.runtime/0.4.0 bundle installed.
Also, as I mentioned, I want to use the mysql database.
How can I get the examples installed and set up mysql database...

It seems to be stanger, I successfully installed ODE 1.3.5 on servicemix jbi after installinf gogo.runtime...
Do you use JDK 1.6? javax.xml.bind.* package are included in 1.6 JDK, and iti is right way to use lastets release(!)? since JAXB API was changed between releases.
If you want to use mysql you ought to use your own build 1.4-SNAPSHOT and change code of setting TrnasactionManager.
I have wrote some problems about this in development mailing list...

I just installed servicemix from the download page http://servicemix.apache.org/downloads.html. I want to try to integrate ODE and then started following the ode installation in servicemix instructions from http://ode.apache.org/smx4-osgi-deployment.html. Since the mvn url on this set of instructions didn't work (for 1.3.5-snapshot), I am trying to install from 1.3.5.

Thank you - I now get the error :Cannot start bundle mvn:org.apache.ode/ode-jbi-bundle/1.3.5" in features:ode-core-1.3.5. The reason is a missing constraint - Import package:org.springframework.beans.factory.xml;version="2.5.0" was not found.
Here are the steps I have taken so far:
1)created a fragment bundle that is a fragment to the system bundle. This bundle has the following libraries in it path: commons-httpclient-3.1.jar, connector-api-1.5.jar and jbi.jar. The fragment exports javax.xml.bind;2.2.1, org.apache.commons.lang;2.6.0, org.apache.commons.lang.exception;2.6.0, javax.xml.stream1.0.1, java.xml.stream.events;1.0.1, javax.resource, javax.resource.spi;1.5.0, javax.resource.spi.endpoint;1.5.0, javax.resource.spi.security;1.5.0, javax.resource.spi.work;1.5.0, javax.jbi, javax.jbi.component;1.0.0, javax.jbi.management;1.0.0, javax.jbi.messaging;1.0.0, javax.jbi.servicedesc;1.0.0,org.apache.commons.httpclient;3.0.0, org.apache.commons.httpclient.params;3.0.0,org.apache.commons.httpclient.util;3.0.0
I needed to create this fragment and export these packages in order to resolve dependencies on these packages as I kept getting a missing contraint error on them.
2)features:addUrl mvn:org.apache.ode/ode-jbi-karaf/1.3.5/mxl/features
3)osgi:install -s mvn:org.apache.felix.gogo/org.apache.felix.gogo.runtime/0.4.0
4)features:install ode
It when I start step 4 that I am now getting the error on missing import. The version of servicemix 4.4.1 include springframework* 3.0.6.RELEASE packages, so even if I include them in the exports of the system fragment, I still get the error.
how can I resolve these dependencies? Is there a step I have missed?

I am not sure what the jbi servicemix build is. Is that a different feature or bundle? I am trying to install the ode feature from mvn:org.apache.ode/ode-jbi-karaf/1.3.5/mxl/features. That seems to have a dependency on the jbi bundle.

I've used Oracle as external database. And I needed to fix ODE code to get right JBI container TransactionManager. I can send settings files for using external database...

How do I test this example?
