setting client parameters

hi all,
looking through the sources i can see that 
there are several parameters for the HttpSender class 
(i.e. which protocol version to use). 
how do i set these for a soap client? 
i can see that they are passed using the MessageContext.

My client works on wsdl generated stubs.
