Buffered IO in FileAppender

Please let me know if its possible to do flush on FileAppender with 
bufferedIO set to true. The reason I want to this is because you may want to 
do this flush periodically (say once every hour) to get the last few writes 
to the disk.

Please let me know how this is possible..
