Re: [Bug 10180] - New Visual Studio .NET Project Files

Peiyong Zhang,

First, it would appear that in XercesLib.vcproj:

                         </File>
                         <File
                                 RelativePath="..\..\..\..\..\src\xercesc\dom\DOMBuilderFilter.hpp">

Needs to be removed too? This file does not seem to exist. Or is this
related to anyones work in progress? Even though the item shows up when you
do a recursive diff, it appears to have no significant bearing upon the
outcome of the build. So if this is someone else's work in progress, it can
remain as is and not cause any problems.

Secondly, I saw the changes you had incorporated with the project files
that are related to very recent check-ins. I agree with them all. I ran the
full test suite and everything appears to work flawlessly.

I will check the status of the build weekly until 2.0. If there are any
other particular builds that you believe I ought to inspect, let me know. I
will submit patches to these as need arises until 2.0.

Thanks,

-Bob

RE: Programming Language for XML

Posted by Dean Roddey <dr...@charmedquark.com>.
XML is pretty unreadable, and I don't think it was ever intended to be
primarily a human readable format. I used to joke that XML didn't need
encryption because no one could read it anyway. Given XML's grammatical
restrictions and the complexity of the grammar of most realistic
programming languages, I can't imagine it would be a very practical
language.

I have nothing against general purpose tools, but this seems to smack of
'Its got to be good because its in XML' syndrome that exists a lot in
the hype around XML. Maybe there's a justification for it, but I have
trouble understanding what it would be, and I'm too lazy to read the
document. I could understand it as some kind of XML equiv of dynamic
HTML or Java Script or some such thing perhaps. But I just think that
the syntax would be horrendous to do anything really useful or complex
in XML.

Visual Studio .NET Build Related Bugs ?

Posted by Robert Buck <rb...@mathworks.com>.
Peiyong Zhang,

Bug 10065 is another bug related to the whole .NET project effort. There is
only one file to change. The updated file has been attached to the bug.
Would it be possible to have this change checked in over the next week or
so? This is the last .NET related bug that I identified.

Thanks,

-Bob
