[jira] [Created] (QPIDIT-126) Add runtime check for availability of
the Python{2|3}-qpid-proton packages
Kim van der Riet created QPIDIT-126:
---------------------------------------
Summary: Add runtime check for availability of the Python{2|3}-qpid-proton packages
Key: QPIDIT-126
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/QPIDIT-126
Project: Apache QPID Interoperability Test Suite
Issue Type: Task
Components: Proton Python Shim
Reporter: Kim van der Riet
Assignee: Kim van der Riet
The qpid-interop-tests run both Python 2 and Python 3 shims by default. No check is performed on the availability of the API on the host machine. The shims may be disabled manually, however, by the use of the \{--exclude-shim} command-line option.
Not all supported operating systems have packages for both Python 2 and Python 3 APIs. It will be necessary to perform either a build-time or run-time check for the availability of these packages and enable/disable the shims accordingly.
