[jira] Commented: (HADOOP-720) Write a white paper on Hadoop File System Architecture, Design and Features

Doug Cutting commented on HADOOP-720:
-------------------------------------

We should not maintain documentation in MS Word. This should either be hand-editted HTML or XML, of if we wish to use a WSYWIG editor, then we should store the document in ODF or some other open format. The original format that we maintain should be easy for all to edit.

Is there a reason not to use Forrest, and include this in the site documents? Forrest documentation is written in XML, but PDF is produced automatically along with HTML.
